Instructions for Activation:
One-Handed Technique:
- Apply Pressure: After completing the blood collection, apply light pressure to the puncture site using three fingers.
- Activate Safety Shield:
- Hold the translucent yellow safety shield grip area (top of the yellow safety shield) with your thumb and index finger.
- Secure the tubing with the remaining fingers.
- Advance the yellow safety shield forward with your thumb and index finger until the needle is fully covered. You should hear a click, indicating that the safety shield is locked in place.
- Dispose: Once the safety shield is in place, immediately dispose of the device in an approved sharps container.
Two-Handed Technique:
- Apply Pressure: After completing the blood collection, apply light pressure to the puncture site using three fingers.
- Withdraw and Activate Safety Shield:
- Grasp the translucent yellow safety shield grip area (top of the yellow safety shield) with your thumb and index finger.
- Use the opposite hand to hold the tubing between your thumb and index finger.
- Push the yellow safety shield forward until the needle is completely covered. An audible click indicates the safety shield is locked into place.
- Dispose: Immediately discard the device into an approved sharps container.
